what is llw?
Live-Learn-Work (LLW) is an early intervention homelessness prevention programme for care-experienced young people and those at risk of homelessness from age 12 through to leaving care. It combines wellbeing support, independent-living skills, creative employment and enterprise pathways, and trusted long-term relationships so young people can build the confidence, stability, networks, and income-generating skills they need to avoid crisis, sustain safe accommodation, and progress towards independence. We are fundraising to purchase our first LLW Home; please support us:
LLW ACTIVITIES
Pathways to Economic Independence
We begin early, supporting young people from age 12 through self‑employment, creative skills and career development. We operate five creative hubs—music production, catering, hair and beauty, performing arts and fashion. These hubs build confidence, belonging and practical skills towards career development.
Alongside this, we deliver independent living skills including:
Budgeting
Finance
Marketing
Health and wellbeing
Personal hygiene.
Family relationship management
Where appropriate, we work with parents and guardians to mediate conflict and crisis to stabilise relationships and reduce the risk of homelessness.
Families join WhatsApp groups to stay informed and involved in the young person’s progress.
Mental health support
We run group wellbeing sessions through our YV Cafe’s and facilitated by a mental health professional from Inini Initiative, creating safe spaces for sensitive discussions and early intervention.
COLLECTIVE WORKING
When young people need emergency housing support, we refer them to Bardsley Youth, the YMCA, or St Basil's while remaining involved. We also ensure our services align with local authority priorities and liaise with the Local Authority Designated Officer on safeguarding.
