Celebrating Women In Business And Leadership
Last month we took some time to shine a spot light on women in the community with our Maker’s Market for International Women’s day. The market was part of a variety of celebrations we had during International Women’s day.
The event gave the chance for Women in Business in Coventry to meet each other and collaborate on content and their businesses. It also allowed local people to see the true power of female business with some brilliant products on sale including: handmade bucket hats, hand painting floral glasses and books, hair care and African low- carb, gluten free food.
Our CEO Dr Christabell Amoakoh, a fellow business woman was also part of the International Women’s Day Campaign for the Business Growth West Midlands. Reflecting on her current successes to date she said:
“99% of success is failure. Don’t think about the barriers, just go and do it. When you take the first leap, that is when you see the first opportunities.”
Dr Christabell also opened up about her work’s impact on the community and something that “will stay with her forever”. She said:
“At an event at The HighLife Centre celebrating the impact of Black‑owned businesses in Coventry, a woman stood up and shared that I had transformed her life.
“She told the room that ten years earlier, after two years of hesitation, I had encouraged her to finally take a leap of faith and start her business. Today, her mental health organisation is reshaping systems and changing lives across the country.
“This is the real impact of my work, the ripple effect of my initial support has gone further to help countless individuals. It’s very powerful.”
